Event Configuration
Configure and manage your Tagger event model.
Event Configuration is the core of any Tagger workflow. It defines what analysts can tag, how event buttons behave, and which additional context is captured with each tagged action.
Tagger includes system-defined sport configuration templates in the Catalog. These are designed as starting points and reference implementations. In most production environments, analysts should adapt them to match team-specific terminology, coding standards, and reporting requirements.
The Event Configuration area includes:
- Events
- Event Groups
- Event Labels
- Event Links
- Event Accelerators

Events
Every event tagged in the Tagger interface is an instance of an Event configuration. Event behavior at runtime depends on the settings defined here.
Name
Required. This is the default label shown on the event button in Tagger. Users can optionally switch display mode to use short names or icons from Preferences.
Event Group
Assign each event to an Event Group. This determines where the event button is displayed in the Tagger layout.
Enabled
Only enabled events are available for tagging.
Primary Event
When enabled, the event appears as a directly selectable button in Tagger without prerequisite selections. Non-primary events are commonly exposed through Event Links.
Color
Defines the event button background color.
Text Color (White)
Defines event button text color (black or white) to ensure readability against the selected background.
Event Labels
Attach one or more Event Labels to capture additional metadata for the event.
Example: A Shot event can include labels such as Shot Type (Open Play, Free Kick) and Body Part (Left Foot, Right Foot, Head).
Event Team
Controls team assignment behavior for the event instance:
- Unset: defaults to the team panel where the event button is pressed
- Team A or Team B: always assigns that team
- Same: always uses the team panel where the event is selected
- Opposite: assigns the opposing team relative to the panel used
Specify Player for Event
When enabled, a player must be selected before the event can be tagged.
Keep Player Active After Event Save
Keeps the selected player active after saving an event. This reduces clicks in sequences where the same player is likely to perform subsequent actions.
Example: Pass Received followed by the next action from the same player.
Specify Position for Event
When enabled, the user must provide event coordinates during tagging.
Events Playing Area
Selects the playing area used for coordinate capture.
Specify Count for Tag
Allows entry of a quantity for the event in a single action.
Example: During live analysis, an analyst can tag Passing once and enter the total count for that sequence.
Lead Time
Sets the pre-roll duration (in seconds) when generating or previewing event clips.
Lag Time
Sets the post-roll duration (in seconds) when generating or previewing event clips.
Advanced Button Customization
Custom Button Width
Leave blank or set to auto for default sizing. Set a value from 2 to 12 to control button span.
Custom Button Height
Set a custom pixel height. This overrides event button size set in user Preferences.
Button Rounded Corners
Controls corner styling. Set to none for square corners.
Button Variant
Flat is the default style. Additional options include Outlined and Text.
Icon
Optional icon for the event button. Useful on compact layouts and mobile workflows. Icons can be selected from https://materialdesignicons.com/.
Short Name
Optional compact label shown when users enable short-name display mode in Preferences.
Event Groups
Event Groups are categories used to organize event buttons in the Tagger interface.
Name
The display name of the event group.
Enabled
Only enabled groups are shown in Tagger.
Event Labels
Event Labels define additional descriptors that can be attached to events. A single label can be reused across multiple events.
Name
The label name.
Example: For a Shot event, create a label called Body Part.
Enabled
Only enabled labels are available during tagging.
Label Options
Label Options are the selectable values shown at runtime.
Example: For the Body Part label, options might include Right Foot, Left Foot, and Head.
Name
The option name.
Enabled
Only enabled options are selectable.
Color
Defines the label option button background color.
Text Color (White)
Defines label option text color (black or white).
Icon
Optional icon for the label option. Icons can be selected from https://materialdesignicons.com/.
Short Name
Optional compact label shown when short-name mode is enabled.
Event Links
Event Links allow one event to activate other events automatically.
Example: Selecting Shot can activate Goal and Wide as follow-up options.
In this context, activate means the linked events become visible and selectable when the source event is selected.
Name
The link name.
Enabled
Only enabled links are applied.
From Event
The source event that triggers activation.
Link Direction
Defines whether activation is one-way or bidirectional:
- One Way: From Event -> To Event only
- Two Way: activation works in both directions
To Event
The target event that is activated by the link.
Event Accelerators
Event Accelerators speed up tagging by selecting predefined events and labels with one click.
Name
The accelerator name shown in Tagger.
Event Group
The Event Group where the accelerator is displayed.
Enabled
Only enabled accelerators are available.
Event Selections
A list of events selected automatically by the accelerator.
The order of Event Selections is important because it determines the sequence in the events table.
Event Selection
The event included in the accelerator.
Enabled
Only enabled selections are applied.
Labels
Labels and label options that are automatically selected when the accelerator is used.
Event Label
The label to apply.
Event Label Option
The label option value to apply automatically.
