XML Timeline Import

How to integrate third party software data into Tagger.

Integrating Third-Party Software Data into Tagger

Data from third-party software can now be integrated into Tagger via the Import Timeline (XML) functionality accessible in the Game menu. This function is enabled after a game is created. On selecting this option a dialog window will open.

Upload XML

The first step is to upload your XML file.

Set Mapping details

Timeline Name

Enter a timeline name. This distinguishes any events that are imported via the XML from the Tagger events.

Team Names

If your codes or labels contain team names then enter those names in the Team name fields so that they can be replaced with TEAMA and TEAMB respectively. This will allow you to use the same mapping configuration across different games with different team names.

Mapping Configuration

If you have an existing mapping configuration then you can select that which will automatically map the codes, labels and other elements to Tagger data elements.

Codes

Typically XML Codes will be mapped to Tagger Events but in some cases the Codes may refer to player names. The code mapping gives you the option of both.

Label Groups

In some cases you may be able to map Label Groups directly to specific Tagger elements like Periods, Players, X, Y co-ordinates meaning that those Tagger elements will assume the text value of the group.

Label Group Texts

You may need to do direct mapping of Label Groups and Text combinations to Tagger elements. You can map to Events, Event Periods, Event Teams, Event Players and Event Labels.

Other elements

In some applications they may provide additional XML elements for things like x and y co-ordinates. These can be mapped in the Other elements section.

Import

After importing the XML you can save the mapping configuration for future use, giving it a name and a description.

Configuration

The XML mapping configurations can also be modified in the Configuration page. This allows you to modify the name, description and all the above mapping elements as well as allowing you to delete a mapping configuration if required.
